Beijing Attraction Fayuansi Temple


Fayuansi (Temple of the origin of Dharma), the oldest Buddhist temple in Beijing proper, is located in Xuanwu District. It was built in 645 by order of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty (61 8-907) to commemorate his generals and soldiers who died in battle against the northern state of Liao. At the time was called Fayuansi Minzhongsi (Temple Memory of Loyal). The temple dates back to 1730 names present, awarded by the Qing Emperor Yongzheng during his period of rule. The Chinese Institute of Buddhist Studies and Buddhist Relics Library China now occupy the temple.

In the past, Fayuansi was so famous for its gardens, lilacs and also known as Xiangxuehai (Sea of ​​Snow fragrant).
