Beijing Attraction Fayuansi Temple
Fayuansi (Temple of the origin of Dharma), the oldest Buddhist temple in Beijing proper, is located in Xuanwu District. It was built in 645 by order of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty (61 8-907) to commemorate his generals and soldiers who died in battle against the northern state of Liao. At the time was called Fayuansi Minzhongsi (Temple Memory of Loyal). The temple dates back to 1730 names present, awarded by the Qing Emperor Yongzheng during his period of rule. The Chinese Institute of Buddhist Studies and Buddhist Relics Library China now occupy the temple.

Fayuansi consists of six courses with these great buildings like the door bell and drum tower, Tianwang-dian (Hall of Heavenly Kings), Daxiongbaodian (Sanctuary of the grandeur and magnificence Mag) Minzhongtai (platform in Loyal memory) Jingyetang (Hall of Karma pure) and Cangjinglou (Tour Sutra).

The Fayuansi was famous in history. When Emperor Qinzong the North Song Dynasty was captured by the troops of the Jin Dynasty, he was imprisoned here. Xie Fangde and a loyal servant of the South Song Dynasty who refused to surrender to the army Yuan himself starve in this temple.
In the past, Fayuansi was so famous for its gardens, lilacs and also known as Xiangxuehai (Sea of Snow fragrant). During the Qing Dynasty, monks vegetarian banquets each spring, and the temple served as a gathering place for celebrities and poets to party and compose poems from the scent of lilacs bloom. The scent of lilacs thicker still intoxicated visitors today.
